Wishing Well
Environment RenderA low-poly wishing well on a grassy island. Hand-painted textures, flat shading, flowers and stones.
I built this as a break from hard-surface modeling. After weeks of cars and electronics, I wanted to make something organic and a bit whimsical. A wishing well felt right because it mixes structural elements (the brick cylinder, the wooden frame, the tiled roof) with natural ones (grass, flowers, rocks), so I could practice both without committing to a full landscape.
The brick pattern on the well walls was the part I spent the most time on. Getting the alternating pink and gray rows to read clearly at low poly counts meant each brick had to be its own face with a distinct color. The wooden support beams and the roof tiles followed the same logic: flat shading, bold color separation, no normal maps or texture baking.
The grass island underneath started as a simple disc, but it looked too clean. Adding scattered stones, small plants, and a few flowers around the base gave it that "overgrown garden corner" feel. The daisies and the red flower are maybe five polygons each, but they add a lot of life to the scene. The bucket hanging from the crossbeam was a last-minute addition that tied the whole thing together.
